After reviewing the material in Lesson 2 you will be able to add more detail to the Basic T you created in Lesson 1. We will review: Colors, Solid and Pattern Swatches, Brushes and many other useful functions. You can download the demo files for this lesson in the “Downloads” tab or you can click here. We now have a T-Shirt but adding some color would make it look a lot better! Here we will learn to use:
-Solid Swatches
-Color Picker
-How to create Custom Colors
2.2 “RIB KNIT EFFECT”
We can simply add what will look like “rib knit” by using our dashed line function.
We will also cover:
-Arrange: (Bring to Front and Send to Back)

Here we will learn how to make a pattern swatch: a simple stripe. We will cover:
-Line Tool
-Pathfinder-Divide
-Rectangle Tool -to create a perfect square
-Rotating Patterns

We will now take the simple stripe we created in tutorial 2.3 and turn it into a plaid pattern swatch. We will cover:
-Opacity

Here will will learn how to make a more complicated swatch pattern: a Repeat pattern.
We will learn how to create a Bounding Box to isolate the repeat and how to use the Paste in Back function. We will also use the Start Tool.

We will learn our first brush: a simple pattern brush to create what will look like a “Coverstitch” for our T-shirt.

Now we will learn a more complicated pattern brush: a repeat pattern brush to create a “zipper”. We will isolate the pattern using a bounding box.

We can created a pocket for our T-shirt using a new tool:

To create stitching inside of the pocket we will use the:

Lesson 3 will show you how to take the T-shirts you have drawn in Lesson 1 and 2 and organize them onto a line sheet.  We will also create a mood page and learn how to save your work as a multipage PDF  You can download the demo files for this lesson in the “Downloads” tab or you can click here. The Artboard Tool is very helpful when creating multipage files.  We will discover its functionalities in tutorial:
-Landscape vs Portrait
-Print Tiling
-Active Artboards

We tend to have to color our garment flats in multiple colorways. This tutorial show us a quick way to do this using the following:
-Select Same Function
-Select Inverse Function
-Lock-Unlock Function

When scaling our flats we want to make sure we do it properly.  Here we will learn about the Scale Strokes & Effects preference.

Here we will learn how to embed a jpeg into our file and how to make a Clipping Mask to mask out sections of the jpeg that we do not want to show up on our art board. This function is helpful when creating Mood Boards. We will also learn how to edit this Clipping Mask after has been created.

Now that we have created a Linesheet Page and a Mood Board Page lets see how we can save this as a 2 page PDF so we can email this file even to people who do not have the Adobe Illustrator program
